One of Australia’s finest Liza Minnelli impersonators, Vicki Vegas, takes to the Capri stage for a tribute act filled with the songs, costumes, mannerisms and unmistakable showmanship of Liza herself.
With 39 years in the entertainment industry—and just as many spent perfecting her portrayal of Liza—Vicki captures every breath, every gesture and every sequin. An original Adelaide Les Girls performer, she also toured Australasia as Liza with the iconic Sydney Les Girls touring show. This isn’t simply an impersonation: think Liza Minnelli in concert, live on the Capri stage!
We’ll begin the evening with a complimentary glass of bubbles and music from the mighty WurliTzer theatre organ, before Vicki invites you to forget your troubles and come to the cabaret. Following her performance and an interval, we’ll screen the film that made Liza Minnelli a cinema legend.
Directed by Bob Fosse and set amid the decadence of Berlin’s Kit Kat Klub in 1931, Cabaret stars Minnelli as the irrepressible Sally Bowles, an American nightclub performer whose glittering world grows increasingly shadowed by the rise of Nazism. Stylish, provocative and packed with unforgettable songs, the film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Actress for Minnelli, Best Director for Fosse and Best Supporting Actor for Joel Grey.
