SUMMARY:Rocketman Sing-A-Long
DESCRIPTION:Warm your pipes and get ready to belt out Elton’s classics in the sing-a-long spectacular of the year. Feel free to put on a bit of sparkle for the chance to win some Haigh’s related prizes to munch… not while you’re singing though. \nWear your best ‘Elt Specs’ for $1 off drinks. \nClaire Baker will bang out some of Elton’s hits on the theatre organ prior to the movie. \nROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story – set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton – tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin\, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager\, John Reid\, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.

SUMMARY:Yesterday - Dementia Friendly Screening
DESCRIPTION:Yesterday\, everyone knew The Beatles. Today\, only Jack remembers their songs. He’s about to become a very big deal. From Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire\, Trainspotting\, 28 Days Later) and Richard Curtis\, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Four Weddings and a Funeral\, Love Actually and Notting Hill\, comes a rock-n-roll comedy about music\, dreams\, friendship\, and the long and winding road that leads to the love of your life. Jack Malik (Himesh Patel\, BBC’s Eastenders) is a struggling singer-songwriter in a tiny English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading\, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend\, Ellie (Lily James\, Mama Mia! Here We Go Again). Then\, after a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout\, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed … and he finds himself with a very complicated problem\, indeed. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them\, and with a little help from his steel-hearted American agent\, Debra (Emmy winner Kate McKinnon)\, Jack’s fame explodes. But as his star rises\, he risks losing Ellie — the one person who always believed in him. With the door between his old life and his new closing\, Jack will need to get back to where he once belonged and prove that all you need is love. \nThis is a dementia friendly screening\, designed to be inclusive to all needs\, providing a relaxed atmosphere for families and carers to enjoy sharing the magic of the movies with their loved ones. \nWe welcome those who might be challenged in a traditional cinema environment\, who may vocalise\, walk around during the session or require support. They’re also ideal for groups so do get in contact if you work for a community organisation that provides activities for those in dementia and aged care.

SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen - Young Picasso
DESCRIPTION:Pablo Picasso is one of the greatest artists of all time – and right up until his death in 1973 he was the most prolific of artists. Many films have dealt with these later years – the art\, the affairs and the wide circle of friends. But where did this all begin? What made Picasso in the first place? \nToo long ignored\, it is time to look at the early years of Picasso; the upbringing and the learning that led to his extraordinary achievements. Three cities play a key role: Malaga\, Barcelona and Paris. Young Picasso visits each and explores their influence on Picasso\, focusing on specific artworks from these early years. \nThe film thus explains how this young artist acquired his craft. Looking carefully at two key early periods – the so-called Blue Period and Rose Period – the film takes us all the way to 1907 and the creation of a critical painting in the history of art – Les Demoiselles d’Avignon. It was a painting that shocked the art world but changed it irrevocably. Picasso was only 25 years old. Working closely with all three Picasso Museums in Malaga\, Barcelona and Paris this film explains how he rose to great heights.
