His concert career includes entertaining thousands of patrons of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra in their Yuletide Celebration\, as featured artist for the 59th American Theatre Organ Society Convention\, a schools choral director\, playing for community theatre and serving in the Indiana Army National Guard’s 38th Infantry Band. \nHis approach and philosophy include the continued promotion of the theatre organ by using a wide base of musical genres.

DESCRIPTION:“I envy the Japanese” Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo. In the exhibition on which this film is based – VAN GOGH & JAPAN at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam – one can see why. Though Vincent van Gogh never visited Japan it is the country that had the most profound influence on him and his art. \nOne cannot understand Van Gogh without understanding how Japanese art arrived in Paris in the middle of the 19th century and the profound impact it had on artists like Monet\, Degas and\, above all\, Van Gogh. Visiting the new galleries of Japanese art in Paris and thrn creating his own image of Japan – through in-depth research\, print collecting and detailed discussions with other artists – Van Gogh’s encounter with Japanese artworks gave his work a new and exciting direction. \nAfter leaving Paris for the south of France – to what he thought of as near to a kind of Japan as he could find – the productive and yet troubled years that followed must all be seen in the context of Van Gogh bending Japanese influences to his will and defining himself as a modern artist with clear Asian precursors. \nIn this little known story of Van Gogh’s art we see just how important his study of Japan was. The film travels not only to France and the Netherlands but also to Japan to further explore the remarkable heritage that so affected Van Gogh and made him the artist we know of today.

DESCRIPTION:English and American audiences gave critical acclaim to Scottish pianist and theatre organist David Gray who returns to Adelaide after three years for a concert of unexpected delights where heart-warming music meets astonishing keyboard skills. \n  \nThis amazing young man is only 29 and scooped the pool in his final graduation recital from the London Royal College of Music\, majoring in piano performance. In the same year he was awarded the prestigious American Theatre Organ Society “Organist of the Year” award recognising his contribution to this genre. This big music which once oozed from ornate cinema doors\, now allows a glimpse back through time\, into the jazzy\, carefree nights of the golden age of cinema. \n  \nDavid will present spectacular orchestral transcriptions\, exhilarating piano works\, light classics along with music from the silver screen\, stage and jazz on Grand Piano and Adelaide’s magnificent Wuritzer Pipe Organ as part of his six week Australian tour. \n  \nTry something new… You won’t be disappointed!

DESCRIPTION:The Capri is very proud to host a night of queer films as part of the Feast Festival celebrations. The first half of the evening will be a collection of short films curated by Queer Screen\, followed by the South Australian premiere of Portrait of a Lady on Fire. \nIn 18th century France a young painter\, Marianne\, is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse without her knowing. Therefore\, Marianne must observe her model by day to paint her portrait at night.
