DESCRIPTION:Regurgitator plays UNIT and more… at the movies! \nUNIT20 celebrated 20 years of UNIT. OCT 2017. The only performance Regurgitator did to deconstruct this concept. Co-produced with Trent Weekes\, and performed at the Gold Coast Convention Centre for the EB GAMES 20th anniversary games conference. \nUnit is but a pixel in time. A spec in the Australian music cultural cosmos. In itself a chimerical reaction to a love of music past. Forged in a self-created Dirty Room studio in the Fortitude Valley over a few weeks in August 1997 after returning from an extensive US tour with Helmet & The Melvins… then set adrift in the molecular world by Warner Music on NOV 3 1997. First conveyed into the live stratosphere at a ski club in the northern climes of Darwin on a balmy Halloween eve… this self-effacing monster of a retrotech platter stirred the self-styled opening jeer of I like your old stuff better than your new stuff\, tumbling all that chose to follow into the rapidly embraced new stuff of beeps\, blips and all out pop-rockin’ fun. Unit resolutely found its link in the musical DNA of the day and 20 years down the track this yellow dot still glows with all the intensity it rose that day to greet us with. The UNIT20 collaboration with EB Games strived for a unique multi-dimensional ocular moment\, the only live revisitation that was emitted across the double decade point in time… and even more the gratification to have been joined in that celebration by musical compatriots Art vs Science along with 7 Bit Hero to help transmit the light and sound. DESCRIPTION:Set in the industrial town of Whyalla\, this is an intimate portrait of John Croall\, a Glaswegian immigrant to Australia\, and the father of Adelaide Fringe director\, Heather Croall. John Croall delivered three generations of babies and planted thousands of trees in the town. He was also a great letter writer\, and this very personal documentary uses these letters as its point of departure. Heather Croall films with her father as a way of coping with his approaching death and reflecting on the close\, and often very funny\, relationship between a father and a daughter. This opens up an exploration that transcends individual grief and loss\, to encompass the broader issues raised by a man’s life. As John Croall is dying\, so the town of Whyalla is slowly dying too. But on the horizon there is hope of a new industry with solar farms and a possible new buyer for the steelworks. The trees John Croall planted in the desert live on and amongst the harsh reality of change\, and this film offers hope as the town reinvents itself.\n\nThere are two screenings here at the Capri\, as below.\n\n\nSun 21 Feb: 7pm\n\n\nSat 27 Feb: 7pm

Exhibition on Screen was granted exclusive access to this once-in-a-lifetime show. \nWith over two hundred masterpieces\, including paintings and drawings – over a hundred of which have been brought together for the first time – this major exhibition celebrates the life and work of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino. \nWith unprecedented loans from the Louvre\, Uffizi\, National Gallery of Art\, the Prado Museum and more\,the exhibition and this film provide an opportunity to see the breadth of Raphael’s skill\, creativity and ingenuity. \nAward-winning director Phil Grabsky provides a fresh look at this giant of the Renaissance\, and shows why he is considered one of the all-time greats. The film covers his life in Rome\, and includes unique footage of the ancient Rome that was such a powerful influence\, including rare footage of Nero’s Golden House that Raphael himself visited. \nMore than just a painter\, Raphael was one of the most extraordinary artists of the Renaissance but is often misunderstood or mythologised. DESCRIPTION:The Capri is very proud to host a night of queer films as part of the Feast Festival celebrations. The first half of the evening will be a collection of short films curated by Queer Screen\, that will culminate in the world premiere of a film shot here in Adelaide\, titled ‘Hush Darling.’ There will also be a Q&A with the film maker\, Saara Lamberg. This will be followed by the South Australian premiere of And Then We Danced. \nAnd Then We Danced – Merab has been training since a young age at the National Georgian Ensemble with his dance partner Mary. His world is suddenly turned upside down when the charismatic and carefree Irakli arrives and becomes both his strongest rival and desire. In this conservative setting Merab finds himself having to break free and risk it all. \nHush Darling – is a story of Simon and Layan in the all too familiar scenario of the first date nerves\, anxieties and excitement. Before their date has even started\, both men have had several “what if” scenarios in their heads.
