SUMMARY:Sharon & Slava Grigoryan - In Concert
DESCRIPTION:FUNDRAISING CONCERT FOR THE CAPRI \nThe success of any collaboration is dependant on a myriad of factors\, some obvious\, others less tangible. Sharon & Slava Grigoryan are an example of such a synergy\, resulting in music that connects deeply with the listener. Perhaps it is their union both professionally and in life that provides the intangible factor that fuels their passionate and sensitive performances. \nTheir repertoire spans cultures\, generations and genres – from standard works for guitar and cello (Granados\, Piazzolla) to creations by contemporary composers\, and their own compositions and arrangements which shine a new light on familiar\, and less familiar\, favourites. \nCome and enjoy these two world class musicians together on the intimate stage of the Capri\, for the benefit of this iconic old building.

SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen - Pissarro: Father of Impressionism
DESCRIPTION:Without Camille Pissarro\, there is no Impressionist movement. He is rightfully known as the father of Impressionism. \nIt was a dramatic path that Pissarro followed\, and throughout it all he wrote extensively to his family. It is through these intimate and revealing letters that this gripping film reveals Pissarro’s life and work. \nBorn in the West Indies\, Pissarro found his passion \nin paint as a young man in Paris\, and by the age of 43 had corralled a group of enthusiastic artists into a new collective. Their first show was scorned by the critics\, but the group had acquired a new name: the Impressionists. For the next 40 years Pissarro was the driving force behind what has today become the world’s favourite artistic movement. \nThe Ashmolean Museum has a long tradition of excellence. As the UK’s first ever public museum (it opened its doors in May 1683) it houses a wonderfully rich collection\, including the remarkable Pissarro archive. With exclusive access to most extensive archive of any Impressionist painter\, and to the first major Pissarro retrospective in four decades\, this film explores and highlights the enthralling and hugely important biography and output of an incredible artist.

SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen - Frida Kahlo (encore)
DESCRIPTION:This highly engaging film takes us on a journey through the life of one of the most prevalent female icons: Frida Kahlo. She was a prolific self-portraitist\, using the canvas as a mirror through all stages of her turbulent and\, at times\, tragic life. Guided with interview\, commentary and Frida’s own words\, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN uncovers that this\, however\, was not a life defined by tragedy. \nFeaturing key exhibitions and interviews with world-renowned Kahlo curators\, EXHIBITION ON SCREEN explores the extraordinary symbolism and themes in these personal canvases to seek a deeper understanding of the real Frida Kahlo. \nUsing cinema to take an up-close and intimate look at her works we examine how great an artist she can be considered. Displaying a treasure trove of colour and a feast of vibrancy on screen\, this personal and intimate film offers privileged access to her works and highlights the source of her feverish creativity\, her resilience and her unmatched lust for life\, men\, women\, politics and her cultural heritage. \nWe might think we already know Frida Kahlo – the image of floral crowns\, big brows and folk style clothing have made her a muse to generations – but what lies beneath the surface of this intensely passionate woman?
