International Youth Silent Film Festival

This is a competition for filmmakers age 20 and under to create a modern version of silent film, see it on the big screen with live accompaniment, and win prizes!

Each filmmaker must choose one of the 10 pre recorded musical themes upon which to base the film. Themes are:

  • Romance
  • Action
  • Horror
  • Slapstick
  • Mystery
  • Science Fiction
  • Hero
  • Western
  • Noir
  • Discovery

Listen to each theme in full by visiting www.makesilentfilm.com. Once a musical theme is chosen, you can set about making your silent film. If selected as a finalist, your film will be screened with live musical accompaniment matching your chosen musical theme.

Previous Winners

The South Australia Regional of the International Youth Silent Film Festival Competition for 2016.

The  2016 Regional Competition Awards Night held Wednesday October 26th  at the iconic Capri Theatre in Goodwood is thrilled to announce the following winners 

 

First prize was awarded to Jasmin Scuteri-Young for her film "Movie Night", Discovery category.

 

Second prize winner is Lucy Fenwick Elliott for her film "Piece of Cake", Noir category. 

 

Third prize winners are Morgan Moroney and Sarah Odell for "Somnambulist", Horror category.

  Our Judges had a tough job deciding from over 53 entries this year and agreed the bar has been set high.  

We would also like to thank the continued generosity from our sponsors The Portland Rose Festival and The City of Unley.   

As the Festival Producer, Barb Cornish would like to send a Special thanks to all the Judges &  The Team at Capri for all their hard work & dedication. As we all know it’s the team behind the film that make it happen.
